Could we really be about to see Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham tearing it up at St James' Park, with Antonio Conte watching on from the sidelines? Maybe so, if the bookies are to be believed.

With the Saudi Arabian takeover of Newcastle United imminent, the betting markets are already looking ahead to who the new owners could look to bring into the club over the next year or so.

Naturally, a new manager is expected to be at the very top of their agenda, with Steve Bruce having failed to win a game for the Toon so far this season.

A number of names have been linked with the role, even before the takeover has been completed, but the most intriguing manager mentioned so far is surely that of Antonio Conte.

The Italian has most recently enjoyed spells with Chelsea and Inter Milan, and having left the Serie A champions this summer due to an inadequate transfer budget, Newcastle would appear to be a logical next step.

Conte wants a sizeable transfer kitty to spend wherever he chooses to go next, so who better to join than a Premier League club which will soon be bolstered by the financial muscle of the Saudi Arabian state?

According to Betfair, the former Blues boss is now just 13/2 to become the next Newcastle manager, down from 20/1 previously.

The current favourite is ex-Bournemouth gaffer Eddie Howe at 7/4, while Zinedine Zidane is a longer shot at 16/1.

Here is Betfair's full list of favourites to become the next Newcastle United manager:

Eddie Howe: 7/4

Chris Wilder: 5/1

Graeme Jones: 5/1

Antonio Conte: 13/2

Rafa Benitez: 9/1

Frank Lampard: 10/1

Roberto Martinez: 10/1

Alan Shearer: 14/1

Jose Mourinho: 14/1

Mark Hughes: 14/1

Zinedine Zidane: 16/1

Pep Guardiola: 50/1

Jurgen Klopp: 50/1

Whichever manager does come in, they will surely demand a degree of autonomy when it comes to transfers - which brings us to the players who are heavily tipped to join the club next.

Heading the betting markets right now is Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham, who is 8/1 to join the Magpies.

The 18-year-old is expected to return to England at some point, so if Newcastle do look to implement a more long-term strategy, he could be the perfect man to build a team around.

Raheem Sterling is another possibility, as the out of favour Manchester City winger is currently valued at 10/1 by Betfair to land at St James' Park.

And if the new owners are willing to throw the kitchen sink at the next transfer window, how about PSG star Kylian Mbappe, who is currently 33/1 to join the club.

His heart may be set on Real Madrid, but money talks - as Robinho will tell you.

It's set to be a wild few months on Tyneside whatever happens.
