Stoke City manager Gary Rowett is prepared to spend up to £12 million on Wolves striker Benik Afobe, despite the attacker being a permanent member of the Wolves side for only several days.

Rowett is rebuilding the side that faced the drop to the Championship last season. And Afobe could well be on his way to the Staffordshire club just three days after completing a £10 million move to Wolves, according to The Telegraph.

It is reported that manager of the Midlands side, Nuno Espirito Santo, is prepared to already sell him for a profit of just £2 million.

It is an outside move and it has already been given the green light by Stoke's board. In fact, talks are already underway with Wolves over this bizarre deal, which has the potential to reach up to £12 million.

Striker Afobe completed a permanent move to Molineux from Premier League outfit Bournemouth just last Friday, after his efforts on loan caught the eye of Santo during the second half of the season.

Afobe said via the Telegraph whilst at the Championship winners: "Obviously I'm contracted to Bournemouth, I've had a great time there and I'm only on loan.

"I've got to show respect to Bournemouth so we'll have to look and see what happens in the summer. It has been great here from day one and to be top of the league and promoted with three games is to go is unreal.

"The manager and staff have been great and it's been an unbelievable experience."
