Spain youngster Pedri lined up for his country at the Olympic games earlier today and the lad looks completely shattered.

The 18-year-old joined Barcelona last summer and played 52 games across all competitions for the Catalan giants.

He then joined up with Spain for their Euro 2020 campaign and played six times as Luis Enrique's side reached the semi-finals.

Instead of having a rest ahead of the new season, he's now representing his country at the Tokyo Olympics.

Pedri has played 63 games in 298 days across a multitude of different competitions and around the world.

To break it down even further, that's the equivalent of playing one game every four days and 17 hours.

One of the world's top talents is crying out for a little bit of relaxation after a quality first season in the limelight.

Fans have reacted to the image and they're desperate to see the former Las Palmas man rested to help his career in the future.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is disappointed Pedri was called up for the Olympic squad, but praised him for a solid showing at this summer's Euro.

"Pedri had a phenomenal Euros. At only 18 years of age, he played almost all of the games in full with an impressive maturity," Koeman told Marca.

"He is improving and he is a humble and relaxed boy. He lives for football. He is an example of how how you have to be as a youngster at Barca."

Koeman went on to add: "It's a shame for us, we have the maximum confidence, he is not worried and this season there is a great expectation of him.

"It's is important for our football base, that the youngsters see that they are at a club that gives them opportunities.

"Pedri has played a lot. We should give him as much rest as he needs during the summer."

Spain drew 0-0 with Egypt at the Sapporo Dome.
