Alphonso Davies is set to become the most expensive ever player sold in Major League Soccer - and he's just 17-years-old.

Davies will join Bayern Munich from the Vancouver Whitecaps, in a deal reported to be $13 million (£10m/€11m), with clauses that could well see the fee rise even further to a total of $19 million, an astounding amount paid for a teenager who's plying his trade in the MLS.

Davies, who operates as a winger, was in Philadelphia on Tuesday to complete his medical and agree personal terms with the Bundesliga giants.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Bayern CEO, confirmed the signing. He said via publication Goal: "He's already signed but has to pass his medical. We will come to Europe on January 1 when he is 18 and play for Bayern Munich."

Munich manager Niko Kovač said of the incoming teenager: "He's very young, and he's very talented. Lots of clubs want to have him.

"Everything has to work out first. The ink is not dry yet. We don't know exactly what's going to happen. I don't know exactly what will happen, but he's a young player, and young players, when they are as good as him, are very expensive because a lot of clubs are interested in him and I'm sure because a lot of clubs are interested in him the price might go up."

Davies is the complete package. He hugs the touchline and uses his strength and quick feet to force his way up the flank and create chances and goals. It's clear to see why Bayern are keen on bringing him to the Allianz Arena, and why the fee for him is so sky-high.

Bayern have many brilliant up and coming teenagers in their ranks but with Davies, it truly feels as though they could have quite a special talent indeed.
