Your playing staff is vital for victory on the pitch in Football Manager 22. Getting your tactics right is too. Something far too few managers take into account though? Their coaching team. It might not be quite as glamorous as signing the greatest wonderkids to develop into global football's superstars, but you'll need the best coaches to bring the best out of your players and develop them into the best they can be.
So then, here are the best coaches for Football Manager 22. Some of them will be tough to prise away from their current clubs, but if you're trying to build a team of coaching geniuses, this is where you should be looking.
Remember, some coaches are great in multiple areas. Guiseppe Baresi is a fantastic coach for all outfield areas of your squad - just don't overextend your best coaches or they'll be less effective than if they specialise.
Other articles in this series:
Former Inter player Guiseppe Baresi doesn't speak a word of English and is pretty settled over at Inter. Money talks though - grab a wad of cash, shove it in his face, and he'll change his role from Scout to Coach. He's also fantastic in other areas of the coaching team, so if you're stocked up on the defensive end you can swap him onto a different area.
Raiding Inter's backroom staff is a great way to make enemies throughout world football. It's worth it if you want to make your defenders the best versions of themselves though. With a good level of technical training, Bernazzani can help your squad massively and inspire your youngsters along the way.
Get your own back against PSG for them stealing all your best young players. His defending stat of 18 combined with his tactical nous of 16 makes him a great shout for your staff. He speaks loads of languages too - Spanish, French, English, and Italian. Wherever you are, he'll fit right in.
Sunderland's loan manager is a strange choice for your backroom staff setup. Make him a possession coach though, and he'll be a real treat. His coaching stats are solid, but where he really comes into his own is in man-management. His stats in motivating, working with youngsters, discipline, and determination are up there with the best of them.
A disciplined coach with 20 Tactical coaching ability, get Loris Beoni in right now if you fancy it. He's the guy to hire if your players are struggling to understand your tactical system.
A real young superstar of a coach at only 37 years of age, Michele Salzarulo can be hired as a possession coach with his excellent statistics in the Mental and Tactical areas. He's even able to work as an analyst if you're already chock-full of talented coaches. Just don't put Salzarulo in charge of your youth team - he hates working with youngsters.
Rodolfo Borrell is making an absolute killing over at City, so it'll be hard to get him on board with your squad. If you can though, he'll pay dividends, with amazing stats in working with youngsters, attacking coaching, and technical knowledge. He'll bring out the best in your young stars with a bunch of flair.
A youth coach in the Netherlands, Talan has all the abilities you need for coaching at the highest level. He's fluent in Dutch and English so will fit right into your dressing room, and works great with youngsters. His discipline isn't the highest, but that shouldn't be a problem with all his other abilities.
An English coach with high Determination and the ability to work with youngsters, poach him from Man UFC if you fancy grabbing a bit of offensive talent on your Wonderkids transfer targets list. He's even good at judging player ability and potential if you like a second opinion.
Mahseredijan is a free agent, so you won't need to prise him away from rival clubs with sweet-talking and bribery. He's an amazing fitness coach, and you can flex him around to other coaching roles if you need to. He's fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, but football is an international language anyway, don't worry about it.
Bayern's Head Performance Analyst has almost perfect stats for a fitness coach. He's probably the best one in the world if you can manage to land him. He even speaks good English if you're a Premier League club.
He's already a Fitness Coach at Benfica, but if you pay him right Mário Monteiro will be an invaluable addition to your squad if you're looking to keep your best players on the pitch and injury-free. He only speaks Portuguese at the moment, but he'll still fit into your team with his amazing ability.
Your keeper is a vital part of your squad makeup, so here's a great coach to add to your lineup and help your stopper maximise their potential. According to his Information page he 'plays mind games', but that should keep things exciting. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and Dutch, so might just be able to slot right into your club with no issues.
Another Inter coach? This is getting out of hand. It's their fault for having such a talented group of backroom staff. It'd also be quite apt to keep the Inter coaching team together. He's great at all goalkeeping coach stats too, so you don't have to worry whether he's covering distribution, handling, or shot-stopping.
If you're looking for a free agent goalkeeping coach, Silvino Louro is well worth snapping up. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian, and has a great deal of adaptability to be hired anywhere in the world. Get him signed up, he's brilliant (outside of his Distribution coaching).
