Liverpool are expected to launch a huge bid for Barcelona midfielder Pedri, whom Jurgen Klopp is rumoured to be 'in love with'.

The 18 year old, whose contract automatically renews at the Camp Nou next June, is supposedly seen as the perfect replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, who left Anfield this summer to join French giants PSG.

That's according to Ok Diario director Eduardo Inda, who says The Reds are desperate to draw the youngster to the Premier League after an impressive first year in the capital of Catalonia.

"Liverpool and City want the most spectacular promise of Spain and European football: Pedri," Inda told Spanish TV channel El Chiringuito, as quoted by Sports Witness.

Ok Diario added to Inda's comments, saying that Klopp 'is in love with' Pedri's 'style, pace and vision', attributes that make him a 'perfect fit' for the first team.

The report also suggested that Liverpool would be willing to pay a fee in the region of £86 million for the former Las Palmas star, a sum that would eclipse what they paid for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window of 2018.

Pedri has been incredibly impressive since moving to Barcelona for just €5 million a year ago. He was one of Spain's stars of the Euros this summer too, with former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand quick to praise him throughout the tournament.

"Pedri has been exhilarating at times with his vision and passing," Ferdinand said, as quoted by Team Talk. "The way he receives the ball all the time. His head is up. Receiving it on the half-turn, it comes so naturally to him.

He seems to have that natural ability and awareness where people are. The running is good. But the little bits of skills here and there separates him. Great player to watch."

In the absence of Wijnaldum, Liverpool have put their faith in the likes of Harvey Elliott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to support their midfield this season.

However, after a summer of little spending, the money could be there for Klopp to secure his dream target in 12 months' time.
