Cristiano Ronaldo's mum has claimed that the player's son, Cristiano Jr, is better aged 11 than the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was at the same age.

Both father and son are now in Manchester, with the youngster joining United's famous academy. Ronaldo senior meanwhile has enjoyed a fairytale start to life in his second spell with the Red Devils.

The 36-year-old has scored four goals in three games so far for the club, including a brace on his debut against Newcastle United.

Nevertheless, if Ronaldo's mother is correct, the lineage is set to continue when the legendary footballer eventually hangs up his boots.

The forward's son has played for the academies of Real Madrid and Juventus over the past few years and has been tipped to enjoy a very successful career in the game once he reaches adulthood.

However, according to Dolores Aveiro, Ronaldo's mother, her 11-year-old grandson is showing even more potential than the United star at the same age.

In addition, she told The ADN de Leao Podcast that her dream would be to see Cristiano Jr play for Sporting Lisbon - should his father not return to the Portuguese club before the end of his career.

"I've already told him [Ronaldo]: 'Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting," Aveiro added.

"He says: 'Let's see.' But if it can't be him, then Cristianinho! At his age, he plays better than Ronaldo.

"At that age, Ronaldo didn't have a coach but today Ronaldo is his son's teacher. He's already saying: 'Dad, when we move to Lisbon I want to play for Sporting."Ronaldo isn't the only famous footballer with a son in the news right now, as we recently brought you news of Romeo Beckham's senior debut for Fort Lauderdale in the U.S.

Cristiano Jr will have to wait a lot longer to make his professional bow, but if Dolores' prediction proves to be accurate, a very long and successful career could be in the offing.
