Jose Mourinho thinks he has become the humble one after looking back on his mistakes as Manchester United manager.

The Portuguese boss, formerly known as ' The Special One', was unveiled by Tottenham on Thursday afternoon after taking over from Mauricio Pochettino as their new boss.

He had been out of work since December after his sacking from Manchester United.

But Mourinho told the media at his first Spurs press conference that he's learned from his experiences at Old Trafford.

"I am humble," Mourinho said. "I am humble enough to try to analyse my career. Not just the last year but the problems and the solutions.

"The principle of my analysis was not to blame anyone else.

"From an emotional point of view I'm relaxed, motivated and ready and I think the players felt that these two days.

"I'm ready and I'm here to support them. In life you go through periods like this, where it's not about myself, it's about my players and my club."

Pochettino was sacked on Tuesday night by Tottenham and Mourinho was announced as new manager the very next morning.

Mourinho backed the Argentine to bounce back from the disappointment of being sacked after the brilliant job he has done at Spurs.

He said: "I've been smiling for two days. I do it with a bit of sadness but I have to speak about Mauricio.

"I have to congratulate him for the work he has done. This club will always be his home.

"This training ground will always be his training ground. The door will always be open for him.

"He will find happiness again. He will find a great club again. He will have a great future."

Mourinho added: "Happiness-wise I am convinced my choice was a great one. (On a scale of one to ten) Ten.

"The job? Sometimes results make these decisions. I wouldn't say it's a (big) job. The club is huge.

"I know that I have potentially a great job in my hands."
