James Rodríguez Looks Stunned Whilst Watching New Club Al-Rayyan

The Columbian is still waiting to make his debut for the Qatar Star Leagues club.

James Rodríguez was caught on camera looking speechless as he watched his new club Al-Rayyan from the stands last night.

The Colombian, who left Everton this summer, was in attendance for the Qatari side's 1-0 win away to Al Ahli and appeared very confused by the action in front of him.

A cheeky Twitter user took advantage of the amazing footage and added the infamous Curb Your Enthusiasm theme tune to its background.

Rodríguez's move to the Middle East was one of the most surprising transfers of the summer. Having impressed in spells for the Toffees last season, many thought the 30 year old would play an important part for Rafael Benítez's men this campaign.

However, the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich playmaker was nowhere to be seen in late August and September, with some suggesting he'd been told by Benítez to train on his own.

After negotiations with several clubs, including Porto and İstanbul Başakşehir, fell through, the star of the 2014 World Cup opened talks with Al-Rayyan, with his former employers confirming the transfer in the last week of September.

"We have to maximise the resources we have," Benítez's replied when asked about Rodríguez's departure, as quoted by BBC Sport. "Having a player being available for 50% of games in the Premier League is not something we can manage easily."

Rodríguez's new club have made an indifferent start to the new season, with last night's late victory their first of their opening five matches.

At least his former side were busy proving they didn't need him on Saturday, with Andros Townsend securing a point against Manchester United, and then busting out Cristiano Ronaldo's own celebration against him.

Whether their no.10 will be around for longer than a year or two remains to be seen. It's been widely reported that there is a clause in Rodríguez's contract which will allow him to leave for free should PSG try and sign him.

So don't be surprised if we see Rodríguez and his Deirdre Barlow-style glasses at the Parc de Princes sooner rather than later.
