James Milner proved he was the king of social media once again with a hilarious New Year's Day post.

The Liverpool midfielder had a laugh at team-mate Andy Robertson's expense on Instagram.

Milner posted a video of a Rondo in training where the Reds seem to be keeping the ball pretty well.

Robertson then went after a slightly loose past and tried an extravagant bicycle kick to keep the move going.

Instead, he ended up smashing the ball miles down the pitch and left his team-mates in stitches.

Milner added the hilarious caption: "Let's leave these bicycles back in 2019 Robbo."

His hashtags of 'maybe it was the Irn Bru', 'how to ruin a great Rondo' and 'have it' added to the comedy value.

Milner has been sensational on social media since he decided to join and own the 'boring James Milner' tag.

Over the festive period alone, he posed as a snowman to wish his followers Merry Christmas and referred to Roberto Firmino as the kung-fu kid.

Milner and Robertson have shared a close bond as part of Liverpool's squad in recent years.

The pair are often trading friendly blows to their followers on social media.

Liverpool were flawless in 2019, losing just one league game in the whole year and that back in January at Manchester City.

They won the Champions League for the sixth time in Madrid in June and have since added UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup success.

Jurgen Klopp's side have won 18 and drawn one of their opening 19 games in the Premier League this season and are on course to end the 30-year wait for a domestic title at Anfield.
