Kurt Zouma's breathtaking run from his own half had Chelsea fans on their feet in their 4-4 draw against Ajax tonight and he nearly capped it off with a goal.

Chelsea found themselves 3-1 down as the second half began and needed to start the half on the right foot to lift the Stamford Bridge crowd.

Zouma took it upon himself to do so and he dribbled past four Ajax players, produced a few stepovers before unfortunately firing his shot wide.

Check out the video below.

Even Chelsea boss Frank Lampard couldn't resist cracking a smile at his defender's adventure into Ajax territory.

Fans on Twitter also loved Zouma's breathtaking run and effort to try and get Chelsea back in the game

Impressively, Zouma completed 100% of his take-ons in the game and four of them came from that one dribble forward.

Fantastic stuff from the 25-year-old who has established himself at Chelsea this season following a successful loan period at Everton last season.

Chelsea ended up coming from 4-1 down against last year's Champions League semi-finalists to draw 4-4 after a fascinating second half.

Ajax's centre half pairing Daley Blind and Joel Veltman were sent off within a minute of one another and it gave Frank Lampard's side the chance to get back in the game.

They thought they'd won it just over ten minutes from time after captain Cesar Azpilicueta thumped home.

But VAR intervened and ruled it out after a handball from Tammy Abraham in the build-up.

It capped an extraordinary night at Stamford Bridge which also saw Hakim Ziyech score from a ridiculous angle in the first half.

That free kick seems like a lifetime ago considering the insanity that ensued.

If only Zouma could have finished his chance too.
