Troy Deeney's punditry appearance on Soccer Saturday didn't exactly go down well with viewers.

The Watford forward was in Sky Sports' studio on Saturday afternoon as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

And the 31-year-old was tasked with bringing viewers up to date with Sheffield United's clash against Southampton at Bramall Lane.

While Deeney showed plenty of enthusiasm and excitement, there was a distinct lack of commentary on what he was actually describing.

One of Deeney's in-game updates was "Ooo red card - Billy Sharp has been sent off. It didn't look like a red card. Ooo that's not a red card. In slo-mo it looks worse than it is, but it's not a red for me."

Viewers were left wondering what actually happened in the incident, and for many of the moments Deeney was describing.

And the Watford striker was the talk of Twitter on Saturday afternoon - as was his fondness for the word 'literally'.

A social media user wrote: "Troy Deeney drinking game. Take a shot every time he says 'literally'. You'll literally be drunk by 4pm."

Another tweet read: "Troy Deeney, worst pundit ever? Has said the word 'literally' about 50 times. Moves as much in his chair as he does on the pitch."

Another Twitter post read: "Troy Deeney, oh dear. If you're not watching Soccer Saturday put it on. He's so bad hes brilliant."

One more social media user said: "Need to make a half time sub and get Troy Deeney out of the Soccer Saturday studio."
