Playing Football Manager is all about spending money your club doesn't have in order to sign players who underperform and get you sacked and send your club into financial ruin. However, if you fancy making a saving on those transfer fees and bolstering your team for no extra cost, you could do worse than the best Free Agents in Football Manager 22.
When it comes to Football Manager free agents, it's hard to get top players right away. They all have clubs, obviously. Some ageing players don't have anywhere to go though, and others had some real-life contract issues that have meant they're free to snap up. Some of them are absolute gems too.

Best Football Manager 22 Free Agents
Paulinho
- Nationality: Brazilian
- Age: 33
- Position: MC/AMC/DM
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona man Paulinho is still just 33 and has time and energy left in his legs after spending a few years in the Chinese Super League. He's a reliable box-to-box midfielder who will function as a great creator and finisher of chances from deep. He's still great off the ball and will gladly spend a year pulling strings for a lower-mid table Premier League side.

Jack Wilshere
- Nationality: English
- Age: 29
- Position: MC/DM/AMC/AML/AMR
Jack Wilshere is still only 29 years old. If you can get some games out of him, he's still got what it takes as a deep-lying playmaker in the English game. He quickly gets snapped up by clubs in most saves, but it'd be a shame to see him in the MLS when he's still got more to give. He hasn't got the pace or dynamism he once had, but Wilshere is a strong contender in the middle. He's even decent as an emergency option out wide if you need.

Daniel Alves
- Nationality: Brazilian
- Age: 38
- Position: DR/CM/WBR/MR
Dani Alves is one of the greatest right-backs of all time. Having spent years as a stalwart in the Barcelona team that won everything there was to win, he's now 38 years old. You might think that's a bit too old to still make a difference, but Alves' 18 Natural Fitness means he still has traction left in those legs. His stats across the board are still what you'd expect from a top right-back, it's just his physical attributes that draw him back slightly. Still, he's a free agent.

Fernando Llorente
- Nationality: Spanish
- Age: 36
- Position: ST
After a few years without a huge number of goals, former Spain international Fernando Llorente is out of contract. However, bring him back as a target forward and he'll have enough in the tank to talisman for your side for a year or two. He's still absolutely brilliant in the air, so deploy him up top and don't make him run too much.

Mohamed Bahlouli
- Nationality: French
- Age: 21
- Position: AML/AMC
Someone a little younger in the free agent pool is Mohamed Bahlouli. This 21 year old French winger doesn't have quite the pedigree as some of the other players on this list, but it's well worth signing the guy up if you're willing to spend some time developing him. At such a young age, his whole career is still ahead.

Sídnei
- Nationality: Brazilian
- Age: 31
- Position: DC
You'll face tough competition to sign Sídnei for your side. He's still at the top of his game as a ball-playing defender, and he'll be a regular starter for a lot of Premier League sides. Good in the air, good on the ball, and experienced at the highest level in Spain and Portugal, Sídnei is one to snap up as soon as possible.

Mateo Musacchio
- Nationality: Argentina
- Age: 30
- Position: DC
Another really good centre-back who brings a wealth of ability and experience, Mateo Musacchio fits right into any side looking to bring in a sure thing at the back. Experienced at Villareal and Milan, he's got all the attributes to do really well at a high level despite his lack of a club at present.

Luca Germoni
- Nationality: Italian
- Age: 23
- Position: DL/WBL/ML
Luca Germoni is another younger option in the free agent pool, and one you should be looking to snap up if you're low in the top tier or pushing for promotion in the second tier of a country like England or Italy. He's been bounced around a lot of clubs in his career, so maybe you can be the one to settle him down and bring out the best.

Andre Wisdom
- Nationality: English
- Age: 28
- Position: DC/DR/WBR
Former Liverpool and Derby man Andre Wisdom is a really solid option at both centre-back and right-back. He should be at the peak of his powers at 28 years of age, and has recently had solid seasons in the Championship. Snap him up as a versatile option to bolster your back line - he's a bit of a banker.

Iago Falqué
- Nationality: Spanish
- Age: 31
- Position: AMC/AMR/AML/ST
Iago Falqué is a really solid option for forward lines. He has the versatility to play all forward positions, he's still got the skills he always had as a Serie A midfielder, and his game never relied on pace so he won't drop off dramatically towards the end of his career. You'll face competition for his signature from clubs in France and Russia, but if you can tempt him to your team you'll thoroughly enjoy what he brings to the dressing room.
