'Fantastic' Manchester United Player Is 'Planning To Leave' Old Trafford In January

Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been linked with Everton and clubs in both Spain and Italy.

Donny van de Beek is reportedly prepared to end his disappointing spell at Old Trafford and is “planning to leave” Manchester United in January.

That is according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that Van de Beek has attracted interest from Italian and Spanish clubs.

Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford in September 2020 in an initial £35m deal from Ajax, which could rise by £5m through add-ons.

The 24-year-old struggling midfielder has only managed a six-minute cameo in his only Premier League appearance of the season against Newcastle.

Van de Beek has played more minutes in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, but the Dutchman has been unable to establish himself as a regular in the United XI.

The former Ajax star was furious when he was overlooked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a substitute option in United’s win over Villarreal in the Champions League.

Romano has revealed that United had the opportunity to sell Van de Beek to Everton on deadline day, but the Red Devils kept hold of him for the current campaign.

He added that Van de Beek is a “top professional” and is currently committed to leaving United in the January transfer window.

“In the summer, they had a chance to sell him with Everton keen on deadline day,” Romano told The United Stand.

“Things can change, but as of now, he is planning to leave Manchester United in January.

“Van de Beek is a fantastic player and a top professional.

“It is true that Italian and Spanish clubs are interested and it depends whether Man United can agree on the conditions with them.

“He could also move to the Premier League, with Everton one of the clubs interested.

“Donny wants to play so if he is not playing in two to three months, he will leave, I am sure.”

Van de Beek’s international career has been affected by his move to Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal axing him from his current plans with the Netherlands.

United legend Rio Ferdinand has identified the “big thing” that is holding Van de Beek back at the Red Devils.
