WATCH: Fernando Llorente Misses Sitter From A Yard Out On His Swansea Debut

It was harder to miss than score

Just a few years ago, Fernando Llorente was tearing up La Liga with Athletic Club and looking like one of the finest centre forwards in European football. A refusal to sign a new deal led to a breakdown with the Bilbao club and a move to Juventus seemed like the next logical progression in the evolution of the Spaniard's trajectory towards becoming a world class talent. However, since that ill fated trip to Turin, Llorente's career has headed South somewhat and, if his Swansea debut is anything to go by, his magic touch in front of goal has completely deserted him.

Llorente arrived at the Liberty Stadium as a free transfer, this Summer and had an opportunity to make an immediate impact in front of his new fans. However, when presented with an open goal from a yard out during a pre-season friendly against Rennes, the former Athletic striker conspired to somehow ping the ball against the post, rather than into the empty net.

Swans manager Francesco Guidolin will be hoping his new striker rediscovers his scoring touch by the time his team play Burnley on the opening day of the season, this Saturday.
