It doesn't matter what age, England footballers at a tournament will find a moment of madness.

A summer off from a proper international tournament away from the Confederations Cup should be a good time to cleanse one's self away from embarrassing moments for England's football team, step forward the under 20s!

Three summers ago Roy Hodgson's England embarrassed themselves in Brazil by not getting past the Group Stage at the World Cup, last year they followed that up by a loss to Iceland in the Last 16 of the Euros.

That simply followed years of being embarrassed in someway or another pretty much every summer since Ronaldinho lobbed David Seaman with a free-kick in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

So it's quite nice, as an England supporter, to know that the only possibility of real embarrassment isn't there this summer, well apart from the World Cup qualifier against Scotland of course.

Seaman lobbed from 40 yards seems to be where it all kicked off, 1996 and 1998 were at least honourable exits from tournaments. Image: PA

However with the Under 20 World Cup currently taking place the young English players clearly didn't want to feel left out on this incredible tradition of 'wonderful' moments. Young defender Fikayo Tomori scored a ridiculous 45 metre own goal against Guinea today:

The Chelsea centre-back was trying to pass back to Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson but his pass was just wide of Henderson who tried as hard as he could to stretch to it but couldn't reach.

Bournemouth's Lewis Cook had given England the lead in their second group game but just six minutes later their African opponents were level through the most unfortunate of goals.

England did beat Argentina 3-0 at the weekend so the goal and the final result, a 1-1 draw, shouldn't affect their progress too much but they'll still need to get a result against hosts South Korea in Suwon on Friday.

Tomori can take solace from the fact he joins legendary names such as Gary Neville, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Gareth Southgate, David Seaman and Steven Gerrard to have really messed up in the famous shirt of the Three Lions.

You know it's really summer when there's a huge England error!
