It's crazy to think that it's three years ago since Martin Odegaard first became known to everyone in football when he decided to move to Real Madrid. Now he's suffered a blow that shows where his career has gone.

In January 2015 Martin Odegaard took a reported £80,000-a-week to move to Real Madrid after he and his dad toured around all the big sides in Europe to find a new home for the Norwegian wonderkid.

Odegaard wasn't exactly expected to make a huge impact on the Real Madrid first team straight away but he only played two games for Los Blancos first team in his first three season at the Bernabeu.

At one point the youngster even had an argument with then Real Madrid Castilla boss Zinedine Zidane over training with the first team rather than the side he was playing for.

He went on loan to Dutch side Heerenveen this time last year for 18 months. He played 14 Eredivisie games last season without scoring a goal and this season he's so far played the same amount of games with just one goal.

To show how things have fallen for the youngster, AS report that Norwegian television have stopped broadcasting Heerenveen's games, which considering some of them were showing Castilla matches when he was playing in Spain is a huge comedown.

What Odegaard could spend a months wages on:

VG sporten journalist Arilas Ould-Saada told the Spanish newspaper what the opinion on the 19 year old midfielder is in his home country, saying "It's his first year in top level football and while he has shown that he can be a game changer, it's also true to say that he lacks something - he's not the finished product which can deliver goals, assists.

"I think Martin has the qualities to become a good player in the Spanish league, but I have my doubts about him being an important player at Real Madrid".

There's still a long time for Odegaard to turn things around but it's unlikely he'll ever be a Real Madrid first teamer at this point.
