Roberto Gagliardini Definitely Had The Miss Of The Season For Inter

Antonio Conte's side twice threw away the lead against Sassuolo on Wednesday night, not helped by Gagliardini's incredible miss.

Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini came up with an incredible miss of the season candidate and cost Inter all three points, as they drew to Sassuolo.

Antonio Conte's side hoped to continue their slim chances of winning the Serie A title when they came up against mid table Sassuolo on Wednesday.

At 2-1 in the game, having previously been behind, Romelu Lukaku had a shot saved but Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli could only palm it into the path of the on running Gagliardini but somehow, someway, the Italian managed to smack the ball against the bar, with nothing in his way to score.

Conte's side had gone behind to Francesco Caputo's goal after just four minutes before Lukaku equalised on 41 minutes from the penalty spot.

With the game looking destined to go in level at the break, Cristiano Biraghi made it 2-1 to the hosts in injury time.

Gagliardini had the perfect chance to 3-1 but his miss gave the visitors the perfect chance and they took it. Domenico Berardi made it 2-2 from the spot on 81 minutes but there was still plenty of drama to come.

The Nerazzurri went ahead for a second time through Borja Valero on 86 minutes but just three minutes later Giacomo Magnani made it 3-3 before worse was to come for Inter as Milan Skriniar was sent off in injury time.

Inter had started the season brilliantly under Conte and looked to be the main threat to end Juventus' incredible run of eight Serie A titles in-a-row.

But they have run out of steam in the second half of the season and, after the draw on Wednesday, are eight points behind the table toppers.

Lazio are now the team most likely to challenge the Old Lady and, at time of writing, are four points behind with a game in hand.

Conte's team will fortunately not look back on Gagliardini's miss as the moment their title challenge disappeared, but they will look back at it with frustration and down right bemusement.

How do you miss from there?!
