Thomas Tuchel Is 'Just Frank Lampard Without The Fun'

Thomas Tuchel Is 'Just Frank Lampard Without The Fun'

Thomas Tuchel has mostly been praised since taking over from Frank Lampard in January but he's been blamed for the FA Cup loss to Leicester.

Thomas Tuchel has been criticised for his team selection for Chelsea's FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City at the weekend and branded 'Frank Lampard without the fun.'

Since joining Chelsea at the end of January, Tuchel has turned round the club's fortunes, taking them from ninth to fourth and helping them reach both the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Things haven't worked out well in the past week though, with a loss against Arsenal putting their top four place in doubt and then the loss to Leicester at Wembley on Saturday.

Mostly the criticism aimed at the former PSG boss for the 1-0 defeat in the cup final was about his decision not to wear a suit, but now his team selection has been brought into question by Adrian Durham.

"Timo Werner was his useless self. I didn't understand the team selection," the talkSPORT presenter said on his Drive show on Monday.

"Alonso, what's he doing on the pitch? Kepa, what's he doing in goal? Mendy saves that [Tielemans] shot by the way.

"What he was doing with Reece James and Azpilicueta I'll never know. Ziyech was the semi-final hero but that doesn't mean he has to play in the final.

"Did he even watch the final last year? Pulisic was winning it for Chelsea before he got injured. It was very strange from Tuchel."

Tammy Abraham's girlfriend would almost certainly agree with the criticism of selection, and Durham also added that he's not too impressed with the German overall.

"I saw an article today saying Tuchel has been brilliant at Chelsea, well has he?

"When it comes to the crunch he might have made them better, but has he been brilliant? I don't think so."

To say that Tuchel 'might' have made Chelsea better, only 'might,' seems somewhat harsh on the manager, even if he did get some things wrong on the weekend.

The always controversial talkSPORT host wasn't done there either, claiming that the 47-year-old's selections were 'sackable' and claiming he was just 'Lampard without the fun.'

"He hasn't sorted his keepers and up front their very wasteful.

"He discarded Abraham who wasn't even on the bench. The midfield, Youri Tielemans ran them ragged whilst Kante was anonymous.

"Thiago Silva was laughing with Arsenal players last week after the defeat and he turned his back for the Leicester goal. There's a lot wrong with Tuchel and he hasn't corrected it."

"His team selection was pure arrogance and sackable arrogance. At this moment, he's just Frank Lampard without the fun."

On Tuesday Tuchel's side could take a huge step to finishing in the top four when they meet Leicester again in the league and in less than two weeks time they could be European champions...
