Liverpool Fans Tweet About Philippe Coutinho's Barcelona Career Backfired

The former Liverpool midfielder moved to La Liga just over a year ago and there's been talk of him being sold in the summer.

Philippe Coutinho might have had some issues since he finally made the move to Barcelona just over a year ago. One Liverpool fan completely misjudged the feeling around the former Reds player on social media.

Oh how I hate Philippe Coutinho. It's nothing against the midfielder really, and it's certainly not his fault, but the amount of times I've written something about his move from Liverpool to Barcelona ended up paining me. This isn't new to anyone who's read any of my articles on the subject.

The Coutinho transfer saga seemed to drag on more than others and was connected to all sorts of other stories so it was everywhere.

Anyway imagine my delight recently when rumours of the Brazilian leaving Barcelona, just a year after he moved to the Camp Nou, started circling again.

Once again it's connected to Neymar with the La Liga leaders being linked with signing their former player back and needing to sell Coutinho to afford it.

On top of that the former Inter Milan midfielder has only started 10 La Liga games this season. That led to one Liverpool fan taking to Twitter to criticise his clubs former player:

But it backfired as Liverpool fans, and others, reckoned that he hadn't done too badly for himself and that Reds would take him back in an instant:

Of course all this goodwill would obviously change a lot if one of the recent rumours came true and the Barca man moved to Old Trafford to join Manchester United anytime.

So has Coutinho done as well as expected?
