Phil Jones and Sergio Romero's futures at Manchester United are in huge doubt after they were left out of the 25 man Premier League squad list, though Marcos Rojo is included.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have confirmed their squad for the season, with changed not being able to be made until January, and both Jones and Romero are left off.

The two players are yet to feature in a matchday squad this season, even in the Carabao Cup, and they won't be making any league appearances.

Jones only signed a new deal at Old Trafford in 2019 but he hasn't made a single appearance for Solskjaer since the FA Cup 6-1 win against Tranmere Rovers back in January.

He only played in eight games for the team last season and his previous two league games came in the 2-0 loss to Burnley and the 3-3 draw with Sheffield United, in which he was heavily criticised.

The club didn't sell Jones in the summer and instead saw Chris Smalling leave for Roma on transfer deadline day instead, with no one signed in central defence.

Romero has long been United's cup goalkeeper, and he most recently played in the Europa League quarter final in August, however he was left out of the side's two biggest cup games of the season.

Solskjaer decided to put David de Gea back in net for both the FA Cup and Europa League semi finals, both of which they lost, with De Gea making a huge mistake against Chelsea at Wembley in July.

The Argentina goalkeeper wanted to leave in the summer, after Dean Henderson's return to Old Trafford dropped him down the pecking order, and Everton tried to sign him.

The deal fell through on deadline day which led to the player's wife to slam the club on Instagram, something she might be about to do again.

Whilst those two have missed out there is a slight surprise in the inclusion of Rojo. The centre back spent half of last season on loan back at Estudiantes and last played for the English club in November last year.

Mason Greenwood, Teden Mengi, Brandon Williams and new signing Facundo Pellistri are not included in the 25 because they are all under 21 and don't need to be included to be available.
