Goalkeeper Sent Off For Coming Off His Line Twice And Right Back Saves Third Penalty

Goalkeeper Sent Off For Coming Off His Line Twice And Right Back Saves Third Penalty

A goalkeeper in the Turkish second division got sent off for twice coming off his line for a penalty leaving the right back to go in goal, only for the third attempt to also be saved.

Ersin Aydin faced a last minute penalty but dived down to his right to save the spot kick and kick off scenes of celebration, only for the ref to end them early by ordering a retake and booking the keeper for coming off his line.

Whilst that seemed like a harsh booking worse was to follow as the keeper was adjudged to have come off his line for the saved retake and he was sent off with a second yellow. For the third attempt defender Levent Aktug took the gloves but the outcome was the same as the right back also saved the penalty.

Seriously some one has to make sure that penalty taker never steps forward for one again, three misses in a row and one against a right back.

What makes the whole situation even more incredible is the fact it looks like the goalkeeper shouldn't have even had the first yellow card with this angle suggesting he's very much on his line.

Amazingly it wouldn't have mattered all that much even if any of the penalties had been scored with Usakspor 2-0 up against Ergene Velimese, thanks to two goals from Kadir Ari, which makes the goalkeepers red card, and suspension that will follow, even more frustrating.

The winners remain 13th in the TTF 2 Lig, despite the win, whilst the visitors are now just three points above them in ninth place in the table.

The whole incident reminds us of the time in 2014 when Ludogorets faced Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League play-offs.

Goalkeeper Vladislav Stoyanov was sent off in the last minute of extra time of the second leg, with the Bulgarian's 1-0 win taking the game into the added 30 minutes, and with no further goals the game went to penalties.

Defender Cosmin Moti was in goal for the spot kicks and he saved two Steaua pens and scored one of his own to send the side into the knockout stages for the first time.
