Benjamin Mendy Denies His Own Injury Update In Typical Fashion

The Manchester City full back has been out injured for a good chunk of the season but will he return before the Premier League is over?

There's not many players that can be a revelation in a season whilst barely being on the pitch but that's exactly what Benjamin Mendy's managed because of Twitter and the Manchester City full back is at it again, denying his own quotes.

Benjamin Mendy was part of Monaco's stupidly impressive side last season in bothe Ligue 1 and the Champions League. He was also part of the exodus away from the principality last summer.

Check out our video on footballer's first tweets:

He moved to Manchester City for an at the time world record breaking £52 million. However before he had the chance to prove how much of that he was worth the Frenchman injured his anterior cruciate ligament against Crystal Palace in September.

The injury required surgery and potentially put him out for the season but he's turned it into a bit of a positive, instead becoming everyone's favourite tweeting footballer.

On Friday he mixed the injury and his tweeting skills together. Manchester City tweeted a quote from Mendy as an update but the Frenchman quickly replied denying he'd said the quote:

City, Mendy and the fans would no doubt love him back in time for the derby, even if it's to play a small part off the bench, especially as that could be the day that Pep Guardiola's side wrap up the league title, at Old Trafford.

The match is on April 7th so it does give the 23 year old another month to recover but with Danilo, Fabian Delph and Oleksandr Zinchenko all having played at left-back this season, and with a 16 point gap at the top of the table, it's not like the Citizens are in a rush for him to return.

Did the club make up quotes about their own player? Seems a bit odd.
