Arsenal Managed To Concede Even With All 11 Men In The Box

The Gunners went behind to Manchester City after just 50 seconds through Sergio Aguero but it was their own fault.

Arsenal fans would have had plenty of 'what the hell' moments in recent years but managing to concede when all 11 of your players are in the box will be a new one, even for them.

On Tuesday night Newcastle United managed to concede a goal against Manchester City after just 25 seconds, ultimately it didn't matter as they won but it wasn't a good start for Newcastle.

Seeing as that happened only a few days ago you'd have thought that Arsenal would be fully aware that City tend to come out of the blocks flying and it's probably best not to concede so early.

In fairness to Unai Emery's team they didn't go 1-0 down as quickly as 25 seconds, managing to hold City off for double the amount of time.

From a City corner Arsenal brought the ball out of the box but Alex Iwobi managed to dally on the ball too long and gave it away still right in front of his area.

The ball went across the area from Aymeric Laporte and Sergio Aguero was there to head home, unmarked, past Bernd Leno. If conceding so early wasn't embarrassing enough all 11 of Arsenal's players were in the box in the lead up to the goal:

At least it gives Iwobi an excuse for losing the ball on the edge of the area, he didn't actually have anyone to pass to and was waiting for an option.

Much like Newcastle though it didn't seem to affect Emery's side too much as they grabbed an equaliser just 10 minutes later when Laurent Koscielny scored from a corner.

City should have had a penalty at 1-0 when Sergio Aguero was pulled back by Shkodran Mustafi in the area as the ball was played through to him.

Aguero did get a second at the end of the first half with Sterling playing the ball for the former Atletico Madrid forward to knock the ball in, perhaps Arsenal should have had more defenders in the box...
