Will Belgium's golden generation end up glistening in Russia this summer or will they go the way of England's golden generation? Roberto Martinez could decide that and it seems he's picked his 23 men for the tournament.

From 2002-2006 England had a supposed Golden Generation, that included Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham at some sort of peak of their powers.

With all those World Class players and some extra ones to boot it seemed like the Three Lions were surely going to end all their years of hurt instead it just got ever more annoying and embarrassing.

By the 2008-2014 generation it was less gold and more banter edition as England managers continued to pick those who'd already failed and worse things happened, like the Iceland defeat.

Belgium's current squad is arguably even better than England's from that period and they'll be desperate to make an impression at this summer's World Cup.

Roberto Martinez picked a 28 man squad with five to be cut on Monday but it seems they've been accidentally revealed already.

Broadcaster VRT showed footage of mattresses being loaded by a bedding company to be sent to Russia, there were only 23 of them and they had name tags on.

The men without mattresses were Matz Sels, Christian Kabasele, Jordan Lukaku, Leander Dendoncker and Adnan Januzaj.

The Red Devils play European champions Portugal on Sunday and Martinez will be naming his side on Monday but it seems that he won't need to sleep on his decisions on Sunday night.

The former Wigan Athletic manager had already made his most controversial selection decision when he left Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan out of the squad altogether.

Those five players missing out isn't exactly a shock but it's hardly the nicest way to be told that you've missed out.

Belgium got to the quarter finals of the World Cup four years ago in Brazil but lost 1-0 to Argentina they then got to the same stage of the Euros in France but were beaten by Wales.

Martinez will be hoping that he can avoid any embarrassment after the bed situation.

First they must get past England's not so golden generation.
