Fan Notices Worry Manchester United Tactics Against Club America

Jose Mourinho's side opened their US pre season tour against Club America with an uninspiring 1-1 draw.

Manchester United will be hoping to close the gap of 19 points to Manchester City when the Premier League season starts but fans are already worried about Jose Mourinho's side, especially after Friday morning.

It must have hurt Manchester United fans seeing their local rivals not only run away with the Premier League title last season but do it with all the swagger and attacking verve that they'd much rather was connected to their own club.

Ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 the Red Devils have not only found league success hard to come by but also playing attractive, attacking football on a regular basis.

At times United managed to still shine last season, like the second half comeback against City at the Etihad, but more often than not it was closer to the loss against West Brom, a week after the City game.

United's tour of the US for pre season could be the start of getting some optimism back for the fans but last night's 1-1 draw with Club America hasn't really done that.

It might have only been their first game and plenty of the players might have been missing but one fan spotted something very worrying about the tactics whilst watching:

I find myself regressing back to watching my Sunday League team, I was only ever good enough to be a substitute so I did a lot of watching, shouting 'where the hell is the midfield.'

You can't have that much of a space with no players ready to receive a pass, Pep Guardiola's side would have at least three players in that massive gap and other runners around off it.

Scott McTominay, Ander Herrera and Andreas Pereira played in a midfield three, with Pereira often the most defensive of the three, and United fans will be praying for the introduction of Paul Pogba and Fred when they're available.

Alexis Sanchez was another big name player missing after he had visa issues but should be available for the upcoming fixtures against San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Will things get better for United this season?
