Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke produced one of the worst ever penalty misses in the 93rd minute against Bournemouth in a dramatic finale.

The game was poised at 2-2 in stoppage time when Charlie Daniels was adjudged to have fouled Wilfried Zaha as he looked to work an opening in the box.

Roy Hodgson gave his thoughts on Benteke's decision to take the penalty and he wasn't happy:

Luka Milivojević, who was a 100 per cent record from the spot for Palace, had already slammed in a brilliant penalty to level matters in the 41st minute, but this time Benteke stepped up and tried to be the hero.

However, he then proceed to do a casual, slow walk towards the ball and deliver one of the softest penalties you will ever see. Asmir Begovic saved comfortably and the danger was then averted when Simon Francis got back in to clear the ball.

Earlier on in the game, Palace were 2-1 up after two goals in quick succession before half-time, but the game was all-square again when Jermain Defoe channelled his inner Marco van Basten with a stunning half volley in first-half stoppage time.

Had Benteke found the net, Palace would have moved out of the relegation zone but because of his miss, they remain bottom of the league.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the big talking point:

Roy Hodgson must be fuming!
