Manchester United star man Bruno Fernandes has reportedly 'lost faith' in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, amidst claims the club have started talks with Mauricio Pochettino.

There have been questions about Solskjaer's credentials as United manager as far back as him taking the job in December 2018, initially as an interim, but those questions have got louder recently.

The 6-1 loss to Spurs before the international break led to lots of criticism of the manager. Fernandes was taken off at half-time in that game and there were claims he'd argued with Harry Maguire and was unhappy with the manager's tactics.

Speaking on 'The Transfer Window' podcast, Duncan Castles said those reports were true and added he'd been told by a source close to the player that Fernandes doesn't believe Solskjaer is 'strong enough to manage the squad' or 'have the capabilities to push the players they have forward.'

Those claims have also been backed up by Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes, who said it was true that the former Sporting midfielder had 'lost faith' in the boss.

Castles added that the former Cardiff City manager wasn't the only one who has caught the ire of the midfielder, with Fernandes also annoyed at the club's transfer business.

The podcast says that the 26-year-old doesn't believe the summer window was good enough to help United get back to competing with the top of the table clubs.

Solskjaer probably agrees with the player on that point, with reports that he didn't get any of his top targets last January or this summer.

Whilst Fernandes was reportedly replaced during the Spurs game for arguing at half-time it led to more love from the fans, with many calling for him to take the captaincy from Harry Maguire.

The former Sampdoria midfielder changed the team's fortunes last season. When he arrived at the end of January there was little change of a top four finish but his eight goals in 14 games helped lead them to third.

Despite that third place finish Solskjaer has continued to be under a lot of criticism from the fans, even before the defeat to Spurs.

The nature of the loss to Jose Mourinho's team, the man Solskjaer replaced, the lack of his top targets, the talks with Pochettino and now the noise from the Fernandes camp suggests there isn't long left for the Norwegian.

United face Newcastle at the weekend followed by PSG, Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Arsenal in a tough run of fixtures.
