When Football Came Home: TheSPORTbible's EURO '96 Quiz

When Football Came Home: TheSPORTbible's EURO '96 Quiz

Twenty years on, how's your knowledge?

Grey England kits, Baddiel, Skinner and that bloke from The Lightning Seeds blaring out 'Three Lions' everywhere you went, Davor Suker embarrassing Peter Schmeichel, Karel Poborsky's hair and Gazza getting a soaking in the dentist chair. It's safe to say that Euro '96 was a fucking uproarious month of football, even if Gareth Southgate did ruin it for everyone. Only kidding, Gareth (a bit).

It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since the SAS (Shearer and Sheringham) tore apart the much fancied Netherlands team of Bergkamp, Seedorf, Davids, Cocu, Kluivert, Blind and the de Boer twins. And then Gareth Southgate went and ruined all their hard work. Again, only (slightly) kidding Gareth.

However, such is the way with notable anniversaries, there is always going to be nostalgia filled jaunts down memory lane to remind us of the halcyon days when Gazza tormented Colin Hendry, England actually won a penalty shoot-out and of course, Gareth fucking Southgate ruining fucking everything (you know what? I'm not even fucking kidding. I was seven when he missed that penalty against Germany. Fuck him.)

With Euro 2016 rapidly approaching, we thought we'd test your knowledge of the last five European Championships, starting with 15 questions about the '96 vintage. Will you emerge victorious, much like Berti Vogts' triumphant Germany team or will you fail yourself abysmally, like Scotland? Or Gareth fucking Southgate (never forget).

Next up, you'll be getting 15 questions on Euro 2000. In all honesty, it'll likely just be 15 questions about how Italy's Kappa kits were the finest evolution in football shirt history. I'm sure you'll all appreciate it.
