Football Agent Breaks Down How Much It Would Cost Man United Or Man City To Sign Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland might have a £68m release clause, but Man United or City would need to splash out big to complete his transfer from Dortmund.

Manchester United or Manchester City would be required to fork out an extraordinary pay package to land Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

That is according to football agent Volker Struth, who expertly broke down the cost of the “entire package” United and City would need to compile for the transfer.

Haaland is widely considered as one of the best strikers in Europe and emerged as a top target for several clubs thanks to his scintillating form at Dortmund.

The 21-year-old Norwegian sensation has been linked with Chelsea, United and City, along with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Dortmund face a tough test in keeping hold of Haaland, who has a £68m release clause inserted in his current contract.

Haaland’s release clause is expected to become active in 2022, but previous reports have suggested that clubs could activate it after the summer transfer window closed.

Struth, who represents the likes of Toni Kroos and Timo Werner, has now claimed that Haaland could cost United or City in the region of “250 to 300 million euros.”

He told COPE (via the Manchester Evening News): “Haaland has a release clause.

“The entire package with five-year salary and commission for the agent will probably be on the border of 250 to 300 million euros.

“Ten per cent more or less will not be what will lead him to make a decision. He wants to win titles.”

Haaland, who is under contract with Dortmund until 2024, has been sidelined due to a hip injury.

The Norway international’s father, Alf-Inge, has revealed that it is unlikely Haaland would return to action for Dortmund until after Christmas.

“He's doing relatively well considering the situation, but he'll be out for a little while,” he told Norwegian channel TV 2.

“It would be a bonus if he gets some games before Christmas, but it's rather unlikely.”

Haaland has frequently been linked with United and worked under Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Norwegian side Molde.

United legend Gary Neville has previously suggested that the Red Devils could make a move for Haaland and partner him up front with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I think Manchester United next year will lose probably Anthony Martial, they’ll lose Juan Mata [and] Edinson Cavani will leave because they got another year out of him. So it will free places to be filled,” he said in September.

“If Haaland becomes available next summer and they want to do a deal with his agent. This is the big thing with Haaland -- then Manchester United should go for him. And I don’t think Cristiano coming prevents Haaland joining.

“Cristiano has played with Karim Benzema, with Gareth Bale, with all these great Galacticos at Real Madrid. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wouldn’t put him on the bench, why would you put him on the bench? You can fit two strikers in a team, surely.”
