Eintracht Frankfurt Purposely Give Wrong Email Address To Halt Lazio Transfer

Eintracht Frankfurt Purposely Give Wrong Email Address To Halt Lazio Transfer

Lazio had spent all summer chasing striker Filip Kostic only for negotiations to take a bizarre twist.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Filip Kostic has been left fuming after his big move was scuppered by the German club because they purposely sent the wrong email address for Lazio to submit their bid for the player.

According to Italian outlet Grand Hotel Calciomercato, the saga went on right to the wire last night after the Rome club had been in pursuit virtually all summer as they looked to replace Argentine Joaquin Correa who moved to Serie A champions Inter Milan.

It appears that Frankfurt have used these tactics as a bluff as they never wanted to lose their star man. The 28-year-old Serbian was that set on leaving that he omitted himself from training in preparation for their draw against Arminia Bielefeld last weekend after the player's agent sent a screen shot of the offer to the player.

The Bundesliga club were after €10.3m for the wide man who's record is 14 goals in 99 games since joining from Hamburg in 2018. Lazio offered €10.2m, presenting their offer via email only for them to be told it was not received.

Frankfurt have started the campaign poorly and now with one of their stars unsettled, it has opened a can of worms.

Kostic has two years remaining on his current deal and will have to return to training with his tail between his legs now that the market is closed.

Lazio meanwhile, are reportedly set to sign Franck Ribery on a free-transfer as a plan B option. The club are thought to have opened talks with the 38-year-old who most recently had a spell with Fiorentina. Maurizio Sarri is thought to want cover out wide and believes the former Bayern Munich star still has a season left in the tank at the highest level.

This is a bizarre turn of events and one not heard of before.

You have to hand it to the Eintracht Frankfurt communications team for coming up with this plot even though it has denied Kostic his dream move to Serie A.
