Cristiano Ronaldo Told He 'Isn't Even Close' To Bernardo Silva

Cristiano Ronaldo Told He 'Isn't Even Close' To Bernardo Silva

"Bernardo Silva is at the top of his game and is doing very well for himself."

Bernardo Silva is the best Portuguese player in the Premier League ahead of Manchester United duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, says Paul Merson.

Silva has performed heroically for Manchester City this season, with Pep Guardiola calling him the best player in the Premier League.

He has stepped up to fill the void left by Kevin De Bruyne, becoming a vital cog in Guardiola's team - weighing in with seven goals this term.

The 27-year-old has lit up the league with his performances in midfield, with Sky Sports pundit Merson making a huge claim.

He reckons Silva is the best Portuguese player in England, saying it 'isn't even close' in glowing praise for the Man City star.

"Bernardo Silva is at the top of his game and is doing very well for himself," he told Sportskeeda

"[Riyad] Mahrez, [Raheem] Sterling, and [Kevin] De Bruyne have been untouchable in the team in the past – now, Bernardo Silva is the talisman. Pep Guardiola has been pretty fortunate in that sense."

Merson added: "I think Bernardo Silva's the best Portuguese player in the Premier League at the moment. It isn’t even close, is it?

"Make no mistake - he's never going to achieve the heights Ronaldo has scaled in his career.

"At the moment, however, you’d be hard-pressed to look past Bernardo Silva."

Silva was linked with a move away from the Etihad last summer.
