Terminally Ill Leicester City Fan Credits Team For Keeping Him Alive

Incredibly touching.

One Leicester City fan has revealed the extremely touching story about how the club's upturn in fortunes and surprising title challenge are keeping him going as he battles terminal cancer.

Australian Foxes fan Skeffington was diagnosed with cancer last March and given just four weeks to live. At that time his beloved Leicester looked to be heading for relegation but they managed, somehow, to survive and mount the most incredible title challenge ever.

Tony meanwhile has also had the most remarkable survival story just over a year since his diagnosis and says that the team are what has kept him going and he's now determined to see the season out:

"Watching Leicester come back from their relegation fight last season and seeing how well they're doing this season is helping me fight this. When I was given four weeks to live last year they picked themselves up - and I picked myself up.

"Having something positive to concentrate on makes you feel good. I'm still confident I will see the season out."

His wife Donna echoed Tony's thoughts adding: "Leicester City is keeping him alive." And Tony's belief in the team has even pocketed him $35,000 after he placed a bet on Claudio Ranieri's team winning the league back in August and he's since cashed out.

Speaking about the kind gesture the club made by sending him a club pennant and a signed picture of his favourite player Andy King, Tony said: "I'm not in good shape at the moment, but it gave me a lift when the picture of Andy King holding my signed pennant arrived by e-mail. I took a real liking to him when we were in League 1...I'm really chuffed and I'm going to get it framed up."

And Tony revealed that his big winfal is only so much because his wife accidentally bet $20 instead of two: "It's a hell of a lot of money, but it's only that amount because Donna pressed the wrong button - it was meant to be a 2 dollar bet."

Sadly things aren't looking good for the football fan but he is remaining confident that he'll see Ranieri, King and the squad lift the Premier League trophy: "My situation is grim now. If the latest chemo they are going to try doesn't work, I may only have a matter of weeks.

"But I am remaining as positive as I can and I am hoping to stay around long enough to see Leicester win the title."

As if neutrals needed another reason to want Leicester to win the league. Good luck Tony!
