The ITV commentator has been removed as the channel's main commentator and replaced by Sam Matterface, which hasn't gone down well.

Clive Tyldesley revealed that ITV has removed the legendary commentator as their number one, replacing him with Sam Matterface, and it hasn't gone down too well.

The 65-year-old posted on Twitter, in an emotional message, to say he didn't know why he'd been replaced but wasn't retiring and would still work on tournaments for ITV.

To many Tyldesley will always be the voice of Champions League, from when the channel showed weekly games from the European competitions, and he commentated on many classic moments.

From 'Can United score? They always score,' to 'Remember the name, Wayne Rooney,' he really has covered some of the best moments in the best way and fans on Twitter shared some of their favourites:

Tyldesley, who delighted fans on social media at the beginning of lockdown by commentating to everyday events and 'singing' song lyrics in his commentary style, is at least staying on at ITV as a secondary commentator.

That means we'll still be able to hear him at the Euros next year, and hopefully at the World Cup in 2022, although not on England games.

It's a bad decision from ITV for me, Clive!
