Here's What Lionel Messi's Goal Celebration Was All About Tonight

Messi had a new goal celebration tonight.

Having only scored one goal in my Sunday league career working out what my celebration would be was never a concern. For Lionel Messi though it must be difficult to stay original, tonight he did.

You can tell when a player very rarely scores because they pretty much just run around like a crazed man who's just stood on an upturned plug for the first time.

For Lionel Messi though he can really think about what he's going to do the next time he slots the ball in the back of the net.

A bit like when Ian Wright was on the verge of becoming Arsenal's top scorer he wore a t-shirt under his kit in readiness to celebrate, then hilariously lifted his kit up at the wrong time when he merely equalled the record.

Messi can pretty much just assume he's going to score before any match and decide how he's going to celebrate even before kick off, and that's what he did tonight.

Messi's goal tonight gave Barca a 2-0 lead over fellow title challengers Sevilla after around half an hour, a match they would go on to win 3-0.

And the Argentine superstar's celebration was in support of children who are suffering from cancer, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

Messi is a big part of the Paralosvalientes campaign that hopes to raise funds to build a hospital in Barcelona to help children in Europe who are suffering from the illness.

The Messi foundation is making money for the hospital and the player also hopes to get other athletes on board.

Bravo Lionel!
