What a cracking gesture.

Gary Neville has kindly donated £20,000 to the Great Britain deaf football team as they try to fund their trip to the 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey in July next year.

The men's and women's deaf team currently receive no funding from the government or UK Sport and are trying to raise £125,000 in order to pay for their preparation for the Games in the summer next year as well as needing to pay for their trip, hotels, physios and everything else they need to participate.

UK Deaf Sport have been trying to raise funds on Justgiving for the past two months but had been well short of the initial £20,000 deposit they needed by December 1st to secure their place at the games.

That was until the former Manchester United right back donated the whole £20k in one go on Wednesday:

Women's captain and sole fundraiser Claire Stancliffe spoke about the effort being put in to make the money and thanked the Sky Sports pundit saying, "We've been working for weeks fundraising and trying to raise the profile of the teams and it was beginning to look like we might fail to reach the December deadline for our deposits.

"Gary's support is outstanding and has lifted the spirits of all the players. We are all thrilled. It's a major boost."

The team are still miles off their target and if you'd like to donate, don't worry they aren't expecting Neville size donations from everyone, then you can do so via Justgiving.
