Botafogo’s Rafael Navarro Gets Kicked In The Face By Horrific Challenge

Clube de Regatas Brasil defender Caetano kicked Navarro square in the face when the ball wasn't even in the air, as the forward ran on.

Botafogo forward Rafael Navarro was on the wrong end of one of the worst challenges you're likely to see, as Clube de Regatas Brasil defender Caetano kicked him in the face.

Navarro was playing up front in the Brazil Serie B game on Friday night, when he led a counter attack from the home team against CRB.

After a header from a CRB defender towards a teammate fell short of its intended target, Navarro was approaching the half way line, with the ball just ahead of him.

Then, with the ball not far off the ground, Caetano, who is on loan from Corinthians, sprang into action and launched his foot into the forward's face.

Unsurprising the high foot, and that's underselling just how high it was, resulted in a red for the defender and Navarro somehow managed to keep his head, and stay on.

Navarro, who looked like he might have been out cold from the initial challenge, managed to get to his feet with just a cut to the nose and was able to carry on.

The game was 0-0 when Caetano received his early bath around the half hour mark and the man on the wrong end of his foot managed to set up the opening goal.

Marco Antonio made it 1-0 on the stroke of half time before Carlos Pereira doubled the lead in injury time in the second half to secure all three points.

Whilst the challenge was pretty bad, it's not the worst thing to happen in Brazilian football recently, with one player arrested for attempted murder after an incident.

Match official Rodrigo Crivellaro was brutally attacked by Sao Paulo RS player William Ribeiro during a game and the player has since been arrested.
