Punter Cashes Out On Incredible Manchester United And Liverpool Double

Manchester United's big win over Leeds United on Sunday, coupled with Liverpool's win over Crystal Palace, should have earned one gambler a huge windfall, but he'd already cashed out.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Marcelo Bielsa's sides played out an incredibly entertaining game on Sunday evening, in the first Roses derby in the Premier League in 16 years.

The hosts went 2-0 up in the opening three minutes with two goals from Scott McTominay, of all people, and the scoring never really stopped.

Bruno Fernandes added two more, Victor Lindelof got one and Daniel James, who nearly signed for Leeds two years ago, got the sixth whilst Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas got the goals for the visitors.

One football fan should have really been pleased with the result, that most people wouldn't have predicted before kick off.

@AshleyDownes bet on the scoreline in a double, alongside Liverpool beating Palace 7-0, and would have won over £40,000 from just £2.

However, with the game at 4-1, Ashley obviously got a bit worried that there was going to be no more goals, or more likely a lot more goals, and he decided to cash out.

Whilst the gambler could focus on the money he hasn't won, it's probably safer for him to consider the fact that he's turned £2 into over £2,000, not a bad day's work.

Ahead of the weekend few would have guessed that Liverpool would put seven past Roy Hodgson's side, with Jurgen Klopp even resting Mohamed Salah from the start.

Takumi Minamino, in for Salah, opened the scoring after just three minutes, Sadio Mane got the next before Jordan Henderson's goal was sandwiched by two from Roberto Firmino.

Salah then came on late and added the final two goals in the last 10 minutes of the game to really add the icing on the cake.

It's understandable that the gambler cashed out when you consider just how many attempts there were in the game between the two Uniteds, and it really could have been about 15-9.

There were 43 shots in the game, the most in a Premier League game since October 2016, when Manchester United faced Burnley.
