The Statistical Premier League XI Of The Season So Far

The Statistical Premier League XI Of The Season So Far

It's just eight games into the Premier League season and already some players are showing they're better than the rest.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool might be top of the Premier League table at the early part of the season but one of the teams doesn't even have any representation in the statistical team of the season.

It's been a very quiet Saturday for most of us as Nations League football means that there's no Premier League or Championship football to take notice of, which has saved us money on accumulators.

That gives us the chance to look back at a Premier League season that's started in an impressive way. Manchester City are already top of the table but their draw with Liverpool keeps them their only on goal difference with Chelsea and Liverpool level on points with Pep Guardiola's champions.

It might only be early days but many would have already expected City to have opened a lead on their rivals whilst Maurizio Sarri's side are certainly doing better than expectations.

Jurgen Klopp's side were expected to be City's closest rivals and that, to some extent, is proving the case, even if the Reds were lucky to get their draw with Guardiola's guys following Riyad Mahrez' penalty miss.

However despite making a good start to the season Liverpool don't have any players in WhoScored.com's best XI of the season based on stats:

It's no surprise to see the likes of Eden Hazard, David Silva and Sergio Aguero in the team but James Tarkowski might come as a bit of a surprise considering Burnley's poor start to the season, which has since given way to some better form.

Fantasy Football favourite Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also in the XI despite his sending off earlier in the season and Petr Cech, despite some criticism is the man between the sticks for the Premier League select side.

Three of the players from England's top league also make the best XI from Europe's top five leagues with Hazard joined by Harry Maguire and Silva.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo manage to get in the team together, despite not playing in the same country any more, and PSG pair Kylian Mbappe and Neymar join them.

Who would make your team of the season so far?
