French Newspaper L'Equipe Pick Their Best Premier League XI

French Newspaper L'Equipe Pick Their Best Premier League XI

The transfer window is over but only two new arrivals are included in the best Premier League XI

We all have our own thoughts on who is the best XI in the Premier League and no doubt even your own decision changes from time to time based on form. But would you go the way of L'Equipe and pick someone who's never played in the league before?

The age old question of which league is the best in the world has many different layers to it. There's teams, gameplay, excitement and all sorts but which league has the best players?

What a shame it is that we never really get to answer that question, perhaps with a mini tournament in summers when there is no international tournament to pre-occupy us.

L'Equipe today put together their best XIs, and subs, from four of the big five leagues- Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1, although no Bundesliga. The French newspaper took the bizarre step of picking a player who is yet to make his debut in the Premier League:

Full-backs Serge Aurier and Benjamin Mendy are the only two new additions to the Premier League, having joined from France this summer, with Aurier yet to set foot on the pitch for Spurs after joining on deadline day.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City dominate the squad with four players each, Spurs are next with three players, Arsenal come in behind their north London rivals with two and Liverpool make up the team with Philippe Coutinho's inclusion.

The French newspaper picked three more squads:

Who do you think L'Equipe have missed out in the Premier League team? Should Verratti be in the starting line up ahead of Rabiot in the Ligue 1 side?
