Bernardo Silva 'Agrees' To Join Barcelona As Manchester City Name Their Asking Price

Bernardo Silva 'Agrees' To Join Barcelona As Manchester City Name Their Asking Price

Silva is reportedly keen to move to the Nou Camp this summer.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has signalled his desire to join Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Silva, 27, was one of City's standout performers last season and played a key role in the club's successful Premier League title defence.

He made 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 times, and was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

Barcelona are reportedly keen to sign the Portugal international and view him as a potential replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who could join City's rivals Manchester United this summer.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Silva has made it clear to his agent Jorge Mendes that he wants to join Barcelona.

However, Silva is currently under contract with City until 2025 and manager Pep Guardiola is keen to keep the midfielder.

The report claims City have slapped a €100m (£86m) price tag on Silva, who has scored 48 goals in 249 games for the club since joining from Monaco in 2017.

Barcelona are hoping to reduce that asking price by as much as €40m (£34.4m).

However, a move for Silva could depend on whether the club is able to raise funds from the potential sale of De Jong.

United remain in negotiations to sign the Netherlands international, who played under Erik ten Hag during their time together at Ajax.

Reports claim the two club are close to agreeing a deal that could be worth up to €65m (£56m).

But even if Barcelona is able to raise the necessary funds, it remains to be seen whether City will part with Silva.

"I think he will stay," said Guardiola when asked about Silva recently.

"But as I have always said, since my time at Barca, I don't want players that don't want to be there.

"What I can say is that Bernardo is very important to us."
