A Barcelona fan has given Xavi and his team a reason to be cheerful, with a helpful thread about why the Europa League is better than the Champions League.

Barca were knocked out of the group stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2001 on Wednesday night, following their third 3-0 loss in the competition this season.
The loss has been met with an angry reaction in some quarters, partially because of Clement Lenglet's full time chat with Robert Lewandowski, and Thomas Muller buried the Spanish giants with his assessment of the team.
All is not completely lost for Xavi's side, as they still have the opportunity to win the Europa League this season, having finished third in the group behind Bayern Munich and Benfica.
And one fan has really given the club a reason to smile, with a brilliant thread on why Barca's new competition is actually better than the one they've been knocked out of...

The Europa league has more teams than the Champions League.

More teams = more competition, therefore winning the Europa League is tougher.
The Europa League has massive and historical clubs like Napoli, while the Champions League has small teams like Malmo and Club Brugge. pic.twitter.com/cKrmTWblGD

Real Madrid have won the most Champions Leagues (13), which is more than twice as many times as Sevilla (the most successful team) have won the Europa League (6), proving that the Europa League is much harder to win.

Winning the Europa League means you are the best in “Europe”, whereas if you win the champions league, “champions” isn’t even a continent so you aren’t the best anywhere 😭😭 pic.twitter.com/6z0cUdJhlH

Previously finishing third in a Champions League group would get a team straight into the last 32 in the Europa League but things have changed this season.
Barca, along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, will have to play a play-off against one of the Europa League group runners up.
Rangers are one of the few teams who know they'll finish second in their group, with Lazio, Leicester City and Napoli amongst those who could be runners up and go on to face one the former Champions League sides.

Xavi was not happy with his side's performance in mid week, to no one's surprise, "Bayern dominated us," he said. "We always want to dominate but it was the opposite here. We must demand more. We're Barca. This must be a point of inflection to change the dynamic and many more things.
"This is the Champions League, but this is also our reality. It's the situation we're in. I'm angry. This is the reality and it p***es me off. We have to tackle it face on. There's nothing else for it.
"A new era starts today. We start from zero. Our objective is the Champions League, not the Europa League, but that is our reality now and we have to try and win it."
Such was Barca's poor form, they were considered the favourites for the Europa League after just two Champions League match days.
