Arturo Vidal Calls Brazilian Star 'A Clown' After Insulting Manager Ahead Of World Cup Qualifier

Its all kicked off again on social media between Chile's Arturo Vidal and some of the Brazil players after the Seleçao defeated Chile 1-0 in last night's World Cup qualifier.

A much depleted Brazil side were victorious in a tight game with Everton Ribiero scoring midway through the second half to settle a tightly fought encounter.

The victory will no doubt taste sweeter for Brazil who were without nine of their first choice squad due to the Premier League banning players from travelling to red-list countries due to the quarantine period required on arrival to the UK.

And that's not the only reason. Back in July, the two team's met in the Copa America quarter final. On that occasion, Brazil also won but the visitors felt aggrieved at the referee's display. So much so that Arturo Vidal, Chile's captain posted on Instagram a message to Brazil 'See you in Chile without any help'.

Richarlison - who was part of that Copa America winning side but unable to play last night - must have saved Vidal's story at the time as ammunition in case it came back to bite the ex-Barcelona and Juventus man, posted a screenshot on his story following the match to which Vidal responded with a picture of the Everton man with a clown emoji over his face. Drama.

In what was an already embarrassing situation for Vidal, Richarlison responded with a meme which ultimately said 'we got him'.

Brutal from both sides but its good to see a bit of banter between the two out in the open. Its not often you see this passion in the modern game. Ask Roy Keane if he would take to Instagram to voice his frustration out after a game....

Whilst Richalrlison was unable to play, one player who was in Chile last night as part of the team was Neymar. He came face to face with Vidal after initially being the first to respond in July, saying '“The weak try to stand upright, the strong stand with faith."

This comment with a picture of Neymar breezing past Vidal, who was sliding on the grass behind him.

Richarlison and the Premier League contingent will hope to be selected for the return fixture in March where we could see another episode to this rivalry unfold.
