Real Madrid To Offer Staggering £400,000-A-Week Deal In Bid To Sign Chelsea Star

Real Madrid To Offer Staggering £400,000-A-Week Deal In Bid To Sign Chelsea Star

Real Madrid's contract offer for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger would match the wages of Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt.

Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger is reportedly inching a step closer to a stunning free transfer to Real Madrid next summer after receiving a lucrative contract offer.

The 28-year-old centre-back will be out of contract at the end of the season and has turned down a contract extension with Chelsea.

Chelsea offered a new deal that would bump Rudiger’s wages up to £140,000 a week -- a significant rise on his existing £90,000-a-week contract.

However, Rudiger rejected Chelsea’s £140,000-a-week contract and is believed to be holding out for a deal worth up to £200,000 a week.

The Chelsea defender, who remains a crucial part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans, will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England from January.

According to The Guardian, Madrid are considered the favourites to land Rudiger on a free transfer ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

The newspaper claims that both Rudiger’s team and Madrid have held ‘positive talks’ and Los Blancos are ‘willing to meet his demands.’

The Sun reports that any deal the Germany international would sign with a new club would be ‘expected to match’ the wages of Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt.

De Ligt, 22, is reportedly the highest-earning defender in world football and is on a staggering £400,000 per week following his 2019 move from Ajax.

Tuchel has asked for “patience” over Chelsea’s contract talks with Rudiger, but he added that the Madrid target is not bigger than the club.

When asked if no player is bigger than Chelsea or if Rudiger’s situation remains a priority for the Blues, he responded: “Both. Both answers are correct.

“It is super important and as I understood myself and everybody else, we absolutely accept the importance, we’re fully aware of the importance of Toni and the role that he’s playing on and off the pitch.

“There is no doubt in that and yes, it’s true, nobody is bigger than the club, nobody. This is a team effort, and it is a team game, and it is a strong club, and it is about the club.

“It is also not about me and it is not only about Toni. And I mean that in the best way, because we know what he’s doing and we’re fully aware of it. So both answers are right and in the end we need a bit of patience. I have no update right now.”
