Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be heading for AC Milan as the club plot a swap deal which could involve Franck Kessie.
According to reports in Italy, the Rossoneri are looking at ways in which they can avoid losing the Ivory Coast midfielder, who's contract is up next summer, on a free.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for quite some time. Everton were interested in bringing him to England before he joined Milan in 2019 from Atalanta. Most recently, Chelsea and Manchester United are the clubs said to be interested.
It appears that Milan are ready to offer the player a route to Merseyside, looking to profit on their interest in Thiago, who hasn't had the impact many expected. Directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are thought to be admirers of the 30-year-old former Bayern Munich man and see his play suiting Serie A.
Jurgen Klopp's side are known to be looking to add more dynamism to their midfield following the loss of Gini Wijnaldum to PSG during the summer.
The Red's have been heavily linked with moves for Pedri of Barcelona and Jude Bellingham from Borssusia Dortmund in recent days but Kessie could also be brought in as a younger upgrade to strengthen the squad.
Both would be major signings for Liverpool, who have seen their Premier League rivals invest during the summer. Bellingham would command a £70m fee whilst Pedri is considering a new long term contract at the Nou Camp.
Liverpool and AC Milan have a history of course, playing out two Champions League finals and they will meet again on Wednesday night at Anfield with both sets of supporters getting a glimpse of the players that could trade places in January.
