Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, with Steve Bruce looking to strengthen his squad before the new Premier League season.
After finishing 12th last season, the Magpies are yet to bring in any new faces with the club still waiting on a decision from Arsenal over their approach for Joe Willock.
But with that deal up in the air, Tuanzebe is poised to become Newcastle's first summer signing, according to The Telegraph.
The Red Devils are edging closer to a deal for Real Madrid centre back Raphael Varane, which would see Tuanzebe, essentially, fall further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Tuanzebe was on the fringe of United's first-team squad last season, with just four starts in the Premier League and a further five in all competitions.
The 23-year-old appeared 18 times for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team last term and has quickly become a favourite among fans after stellar performances in the Red Devils shirt.
The up-and-coming defender was praised by fans and pundits last year when he marshalled Paris Saint-Germain stars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the Champions League.

But he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular and needs more action to continue his development - with Bruce a firm admirer of the defensive stalwart.
