Manchester United will try to overcome their semi-final hoodoo under Ole Gunnar Solkjaer when they take on Roma in the last four of the Europa League on Thursday.

Coming into their fifth semi-final since the start of last year, United have yet to progress to a final during that time, while Roma arrive at Old Trafford on a run of just one victory from their last seven league games.

And Solskjaer will be desperate to make it fifth time lucky against the Italian outfit, with the Europa League offering the Norwegian's last chance for silverware this term.

A fascinating clash of cultures is in store over the course of this tie, as possession-orientated Roma - who have conceded more than anyone else in the top half of Serie A - encounter a United side that are at their most dangerous on the counter.

Confidence is certainly higher in the hosts camp, as the Giallorossi have stumbled their way through spring, while the in-form United continue to find goals through a variety of sources.

Here, SPORTbible takes a look at everything you need to know ahead of the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.

How to watch and stream Manchester United vs Roma

Manchester United vs Roma is scheduled for an 8pm (BST) kick-off on Thursday, April 29.

The match will be held behind closed doors at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, due to the ongoing government restrictions regarding coronavirus.

It will be televised on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate, with coverage beginning at 7.15pm.

BT Sport subscribers will also be able to watch the match online via the website or the BT Sport app.

Manchester United vs Roma predictions and betting odds

Manchester United have looked untroubled since dropping into this competition and will fancy their chances of ending that run of semi-final defeats against a Roma side that have won just one of their last five games.

There will surely be no repeat of the famous 7-1 Champions League quarter-final drubbing under Sir Alex Ferguson from 14 years ago, but United are more than capable of securing a solid lead to take to the Stadio Olimpico.

Though they have already lost four semis during boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's relatively brief reign - including last season's one-off tie with Sevilla - the Red Devils are now favourites to lift their first trophy since 2017's Europa League Final success under Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United are 8/15 to win, with Roma priced at 5/1 to come away with the victory. A draw is priced at 16/5.
