The annual curtain-raiser to the English season will see Leicester City and Manchester City go head-to-head for the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers' Foxes stunned European champions Chelsea to lift the FA Cup last term, while Pep Guardiola's star-studded City side cantered to Premier League title glory.

While the Community shield may have very little bearing on the upcoming season overall, it never hurts to get off to a winning start to build momentum, but who will be winning the first piece of silverware of the season?

Apart from Leicester's shock 5-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium last season, the games between the two sides have been fairly close over the years.

But Leicester will be full of confidence following their FA Cup triumph as they look to break into the coveted top four this season.

The Foxes, however, have failed to win any of their first three pre-season friendlies - at Burton Albion, Wycombe Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers - but hold an advantage over the Citizens in terms of player availability.

With the new Premier League season now just under a week away, our tipster Robert Mann takes a look at some of the best bets from Leicester City vs Manchester City to get your teeth stuck into.

Leicester City vs Manchester City betting tips & predictions

Leicester City are 5/2 to win, with Manchester City priced at 19/20 to come away with the victory. A draw is priced at 13/5.

Prediction: 1-1 (6/1)

To lift the trophy: Leicester City (9/4)

Manchester City are expected to be without the likes of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, John Stones, Ederson and Kyle Walker, who all featured heavily at Euro 2020 and the Copa America.

Guardiola's side could include a lot of younger players, but the Foxes will be wary of the likes of their former star in Riyad Mahrez.

Having said that, we're backing Rodgers and his exceptional Foxes to come out firing, earning a victory along the way that will boost confidence around the club ahead of the new campaign.

To score anytime: Riyad Mahrez (7/4)

As mentioned, Mahrez - a vital cog in Guardiola's star-studded side - will be a key contender to start for City.

The Algerian phenomenon scored nine league goals in 27 appearances in the league last season and we're backing him to open his account for the season at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

As a result of his terrific ability to shift the ball on to his left-foot in goalscoring opportunities, he will be one of City's key men going forward. He couldn't, could he?

To win on penalties: Leicester City (15/2)

Despite City's Premier League dominance last season, we reckon Sunday's game will be a cagey affair from the first to late whistle, especially with neither side likely to be at full strength.

Three of the last four Community Shield games have been settled on penalties and the same could happen this time around.

For that reason, we're taking a punt on Leicester to beat City on penalties because, well, why not?

Leicester City team news

Leicester will be without Wesley Fofana who is out of Sunday's game having suffered a fractured fibula during the Foxes' pre-season friendly against Villarreal.

New signing Patson Daka, meanwhile, could feature for Rodgers' side.

Club talisman Jamie Vardy is also set to feature, however, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is not back in pre-season training yet after Denmark's impressive European Championship run.

Manchester City team news

Jack Grealish has completed his £100m from Aston Villa, but it remains to be seen whether he will be integrated into Guardiola's squad in time to feature at Wembley.

As with Schmeichel, Sterling and Foden will likely be out after England's run to the Euro 2020 final.
