Man Utd and Man City On Alert As Harry Kane Transfer Fee Massively Plummets

Man Utd and Man City On Alert As Harry Kane Transfer Fee Massively Plummets

It appears that a transfer move for Harry Kane could be a whole lot more realistic this summer.

The asking price for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane appears to have changed drastically, in a boost for admirers of the Premier League striker.

It was previously believed that Spurs would not entertain anything less than a 'cash only' deal of £150 million for the 27-year-old. But a breakthrough in talks with Manchester United, who now lead the way in the hopes of signing Kane, appears to have changed things.

After initial discussions between United and Spurs, a report from Football Insider indicates that Spurs would entertain a £100 million deal in exchange for two first-team players.

That's still a hefty price, of course, but United might entertain such an exchange if it helps balance the books and give them a player who could help them in their first Premier League title since the Ferguson era.

Which first-team players might move in the other direction is up for debate, though our money would be on Anthony Martial being one of the options on the table as it would suit all parties.

Kane, who ranks among the best strikers in the world, has made his intentions clear that he wants to leave Spurs. While Spurs publicly state they have no intention of selling, forcing a disgruntled Kane to stay and decline in value would be a risk for the club.

No doubt Spurs will drive a hard bargain and, if any transfer is to be completed, it will go down to the wire just like previous high-profile deals like Bale joined Real Madrid and Berbatov joining United.

After agreeing a deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for more than £70 million, United fans will be delighted to hear a deal for Kane might still happen, even if the odds are still slim.

Man City are likely still in the race too, even if Guardiola recently cooled speculation in bemoaning the 'too high' price of a potential deal.

Will it be to the red or blue side, or no side at all? At the moment it looks like United lead the way, but an interesting couple of months awaits.
