His future was recently cast into doubt after he reportedly rejected two contract offers from the Hammers - but the east London outfit have since insisted that he is not for sale, despite David Moyes' valuing £100m player valuation.
Rice spent time with Chelsea's academy earlier in his career with Mason Mount and speculation continues to hot up about a return to west London.
And it seems Mount is keen on his childhood pal making the switch to Blues, too, as he FaceTimed Rice following their historic Champions League in Porto in May to show off his winner's medal, according to The Athletic.
Both Rice and Mount are currently away with the Three Lions at this summer's European Championships and will have, undoubtedly, spoken about their futures. Oh, wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall?
Chelsea's interest in Rice dates back to Frank Lampard before he was sacked midway through last season.
Manchester United are the latest club to join the race for the highly-rated Englishman, but Mount's presence at Chelsea will, almost certainly, play a huge part in his next landing spot. But where will he be next season?
